This image was really taking a step outside of my comfort zone. I don't use bright colors at all, this was soooo hard, but I'm pleased with how it came out.
~sigh~ and yes those band-aid looking things int eh rainbow are supposed to be pills, but I temporarily forgot what pills look like... -_- so the cow is eating band-aid pills... >_>....yeah.... Photoshop and Illustrator read on if you would like to hear my rant... Watch what you eat! I made this as my Final project for my Visual Concepts class combining Takashi Murakami's style and Kara Walker's narration of issues to make it known that there are companies like Monsanto, and Large scale farms that are abusing the very food we eat here in America. I say abusing because they are adding unnecessary amounts of antibiotics to our food that creates LARGE amounts of drug resistant bacteria and viruses (like the Swine Flu). Monsanto is a Large agriculture company that Patents seeds that it makes. Now these seeds have been genetically altered to have certain traits. Like for instance they wanted to make more cold tolerant tomatoes so they added the genes of Flounder (yeah the fish) to it because this particular species of fish can live at very cold temperatures. So they mess with the genes and then so they can recognized their seed from other Natural seeds they add an antibiotic to it. They claim that they can cure world hunger with their crops. NO. They can't. Their supposed drout resistant soy bean does worse in the heat than regular Natural soy bean plants. AND on top of that they make their seeds have a suicide gene in it that after the first year the new seeds from the previous plant are dead. They will not grow. So what happens if these suicide genes cross over to natural plants?? rice, wheat, or whatever else we grow. They die. The seeds are no longer useful. So the farmers have to go back to the company, Monsanto, to get a new batch of seeds that are alive and will grow. This is ridiculous! I want to know that the bean seeds that I save from my bean plants the previous year are going to grow! As for the large ass conventional farms.... don't even get me started on them. I'll just say that all that meat you buy at the grocery store like chicken, beef, pork, it's all probably pumped full of antibiotics. I doubt that after death all the drugs that the animals were eating for all of their lives at these farms just all of a sudden dissipate once the animal is slaughtered. It's not like they only get these drugs once in their miserable lives, they get them constantly whether they are sick or not. Yeah they give "get better drugs" to animals who are not even sick! Sooooo this leads to strains of viruses that can't be killed. hmmm, and what about all the genetically modified food that they animals get fed? *Gasp* it has Antibiotics in it too! Just think. You eat that. yep.... sorry about the rant, but I thought people need to know what they consume everyday that the FDA does not do a very good job of regulating. Must see movie: [link] some links to check out about farms using antibiotics: [link] [link] I used Photoshop and Illustrator |
